I am a Brazilian amateur photographer and a lifelong enthusiast of black and white photography. My journey began in the 1970s with Pentax 35mm and Rolleiflex 6x6 cameras, working with Ilford FP4 and Kodak Tri-X negative films. For more than two decades, I was part of the Iris Foto Grupo in São Carlos, São Paulo, where a dedicated group of photographers gathered to explore the art of photography. Through discussions, hands-on darkroom work, and the invaluable teachings of our friend, art photographer Paulo Pires da Silva, I deepened my understanding of black and white photography. In a world filled with color, I find beauty in the timeless interplay of light, shadow, texture, and form - where each image tells a story beyond the spectrum of light.
